The Stagg girls volleyball team recently demonstrated a strong performance with two program sweeps and a notable finish at a weekend tournament.
According to the team’s records, the Chargers achieved a sweep against Oak Forest on September 15, driven by 29 kills and a .434 hitting percentage. They followed this with another sweep against Richards on September 17, achieving 40 kills. Both victories were comprehensive, marking program-wide sweeps across all levels.
Stagg maintained their momentum at the Oak Lawn Invite, where the varsity team advanced to the Gold Bracket and secured fourth place out of 16 teams. The Chargers recorded wins over Oak Lawn and RTHS on September 19. Despite competitive losses to Romeoville, St. Laurence, and PCHS the following day, their performance underscored their ability to compete in high-level tournament play.
Earlier in the season, Stagg began with a victory over Oak Lawn on August 25 and added wins against HBNHS, Herscher, Shepard, and TFSHS. Through 16 matches, Stagg has accumulated 403 kills with a .171 hitting percentage, averaging 9.6 kills per set. The Chargers aim to build on their tournament success as conference play continues this week.
