The Stagg boys’ soccer team has achieved one of the strongest starts in its program’s history, beginning the season with a record of 7-1-2. The team has demonstrated a balanced attack and strong defense.
According to the team’s performance records, the Chargers commenced their season with a decisive 4-0 victory over Chicago Washington on August 25. This was followed by a 1-1 draw against Central five days later. Subsequent victories over Oak Lawn, Bremen, and Thornton further bolstered their early confidence, highlighted by a 6-0 shutout at Bremen and a 4-0 win against Thornton.
Stagg continued its successful run by defeating Downers Grove North and Von Steuben, outscoring these opponents 8-1. The team’s only defeat occurred on September 17 against Taft, with a narrow 2-1 loss at home. However, Stagg quickly recovered by securing a 2-1 victory over Bradley-Bourbonnais on September 20, entering this week with renewed momentum.
Throughout their first ten games, Stagg has scored a total of 30 goals while conceding only seven, achieving six shutouts in the process. With a conference play record of 1-0, the Chargers currently hold second place in the standings and have opportunities to advance further in the upcoming weeks.
