Stagg High School senior Jack Krusinski delivered a notable performance on Saturday, securing fourth place overall at the First to the Finish Invitational held at Detweiller Park.
According to reports, Krusinski completed the three-mile race in 14 minutes and 46 seconds, marking the third-fastest time ever recorded in Stagg cross country history. His achievement places him among the elite competitors in a field that included some of the top high school distance runners in Illinois. The First to the Finish Invitational is considered a key event for Illinois cross country programs, often serving as a preview for the state championships contested on the same course. For Krusinski, this performance not only showcased his individual progress but also established him as one of Stagg’s all-time greats.
“I just wanted to go out strong and see how long I could stay with the front pack,” Krusinski said. “When I saw my time at the finish, I knew it was something special. To be up there with some of the best runners in Illinois is a huge confidence boost.”
Krusinski’s performance provides momentum for the Chargers as they continue their fall schedule. With one of the fastest times in program history now under his belt, he has positioned himself as both a state contender and a leader for his team as they pursue postseason success.
