The Stagg High School boys’ golf team faced a challenging week, beginning with a tri-meet loss to Lincoln-Way Central and Lincoln-Way West. The week concluded with a top-10 finish at the St. Rita Southside Shootout.
According to reports, on Thursday, the Chargers competed against both Lincoln-Way programs in a three-team event. Stagg recorded a team score of 177, trailing behind Lincoln-Way West at 154 and Lincoln-Way Central at 149. Despite strong efforts, the Chargers were unable to match their rivals, who benefited from consistent performances.
Stagg rebounded with an improved showing on Saturday at the St. Rita Southside Shootout, known as one of the area’s more competitive invitationals. The Chargers secured ninth place overall, led by senior Paul Chrowaniec, who scored an 80. His steady play kept Stagg competitive against numerous schools from across the Southland.
While the Chargers fell short in their dual matchups earlier in the week, their weekend performance indicated progress as they continue their midseason efforts. With several key tournaments and conference matchups still ahead, Stagg aims to build momentum and enhance consistency before entering the postseason.
