The Stagg High School girls’ cross country team has made a strong start to the season, delivering impressive performances in early competitions and securing multiple top finishes.
According to recent reports, the Chargers began their schedule at the Pre-Conference Meet before participating in the Sue Kramer Invitational, hosted by Andrew High School. The freshmen and sophomore squad from Stagg placed third overall, led by Emily Pocica’s fourth-place finish. At the varsity level, the Chargers achieved second place, with notable performances from Bridget Begley and Stephanie Lipkie, both finishing in the top 10.
Momentum continued at the Rich Dust Invitational on September 6 at North Creek Woods, hosted by TF South. Stagg’s underclassmen excelled by winning the freshman/sophomore division. Pocica, along with teammates Lia Dinlasan and Eabha O’Boyle-Carr, all secured top-10 finishes. The varsity team maintained its strong performance, placing second overall with Begley again leading in the top 10. Stagg’s depth was evident in the open race as well, where they dominated by sweeping the top seven spots. Natalia Leja claimed first place, followed closely by Alicja Marszalek, Arianna Shroba, Maggie Kurzeja, Jhanse Coss, and Toleen Afsheh.
With these solid early results, Stagg High School has demonstrated that they are contenders across all levels as they continue to build on their performances throughout the season.
