The Stagg High School girls’ cross country team recently achieved notable success, securing second place overall at the Oak Forest Mad Dash on Saturday, October 11. This accomplishment followed their strong performance at the Senior Invite held at Amos Alonzo Stagg High School in Palos Hills, Illinois, on Thursday, October 2.
According to reports from the event, the Senior Invite was an occasion to honor the Chargers’ senior runners for their dedication and leadership. Bridget Begley and Stephanie Lipkie each finished in the top 10 during this meet, setting a positive precedent for future competitions.
At the Oak Forest Mad Dash, Begley and Raama Saada both earned medals by finishing in the top 10. Their efforts contributed significantly to the varsity squad’s runner-up team finish. Out of 14 athletes representing Stagg, 10 achieved season and career personal bests, marking one of their strongest collective performances of the season.
Looking ahead, the Chargers are set to compete at the SouthWest Suburban Conference Championship on Saturday, October 18. The event will take place at Lincoln-Way Central High School at 9 a.m., where they aim to maintain their momentum as they approach postseason competitions.
This year’s second-place finish at Oak Forest represents a marked improvement for Stagg since they did not place as a full team during their last participation in this event.
