The Stagg girls’ flag football team has maintained its strong performance into the midpoint of the season, achieving significant victories under the leadership of head coach Saja Alnajjar and senior captains Stephanie Chandler, Kaj Fears, and Victoria Perez.
According to recent reports, the Chargers defeated Sandburg 27-7 on September 13, followed by a 46-13 victory over Andrew, securing bragging rights in the District 230 rivalry. Their latest game resulted in a decisive 33-2 win over Addison Trail, demonstrating the team’s balanced performance on both offense and defense.
Last fall, Stagg achieved a record of 15-7, won regionals, and ranked among the top 28 teams in Illinois. This strong foundation is supported by returning players. Chandler, an all-state selection last season, contributed significantly with 324 rushing yards, 24 sacks, and four touchdowns.
Perez remains a scoring threat with her record of 14 touchdowns last year. Meanwhile, Fears has taken on an expanded role and developed as a leader within the team.
Alnajjar credits the team’s success to their ability to communicate effectively and work cohesively as a unit. She emphasized that their achievements stem not only from execution but also from maintaining respect and dedication.
With rivalry victories secured and momentum building, Stagg aims for success in sectionals with aspirations for state-level competition.
