The Stagg Chargers showed grit and determination despite falling 56–6 to the Andrew Thunderbolts on Friday night in a South Suburban Conference matchup.
The game took place Oct. 3, 2025, at Stagg High School in Palos Hills, Illinois.
Though the score tilted heavily in Andrew’s favor, the Chargers continued to fight through all four quarters. Stagg’s defense made several key stops in the second half, forcing turnovers and slowing Andrew’s explosive offense after a fast start. Quarterback Dylan Rangel connected with receiver Michael Guzman for the Chargers’ lone touchdown in the fourth quarter, capping off a determined late drive that fired up the home crowd. Despite the deficit, Stagg’s young roster gained valuable experience against one of the conference’s top teams and refused to quit until the final whistle.
Up next: Stagg (0–6) will travel to face Waubonsie Valley on Friday at 7 p.m., looking to build on its late offensive momentum. Andrew (4–2) returns home to host Lincoln-Way Central at 7:30 p.m.
In their previous meeting, Andrew defeated Stagg 49–6, but this year’s Chargers showed signs of progress, displaying more discipline and resilience on both sides of the ball.
