Stagg High School’s boys wrestling team is preparing for a competitive weekend under the guidance of head coach Brian Jackson. The Chargers are entering a challenging phase of invitational events as the season progresses.
Their next competition is scheduled for December 6 at Joliet Central, where Stagg will participate in the McLaughlin Invite starting at 8:00 a.m. This event offers the Chargers crucial early-season mat time, allowing them to test their positioning, pace, and match discipline against a diverse group of competitors. Invitational events also provide the coaching staff with an opportunity to observe technique under pressure, aiding in lineup decisions and identifying areas for improvement in upcoming training sessions.
According to Jackson and his coaching staff, they have been focusing on sharp hand-fighting, clean finishes through attacks, and controlled pressure during the initial weeks of the season. The McLaughlin Invite serves as an important checkpoint to assess how effectively these elements are being implemented in live competition as the Chargers prepare for the midseason portion of their schedule.
Following this event, Stagg will travel to Hoffman Estates High School on December 13 for another invitational starting at 8:30 a.m. This will provide the Chargers with another full day of high-level matches as they continue to refine their technique and enhance consistency on the mat.
