The Stagg girls basketball team competed through four quarters but fell 71-51 to Lincoln-Way West in a Southwest Suburban Conference matchup.
The game was played Jan. 13, at Lincoln-Way West High School in New Lenox, where the Chargers faced a fast-paced Warriors squad that used a strong second half to create separation.
Stagg was led by its senior group of Lina Baker, Abby Ellsworth, Viktoria Dziemian, Abbey Hobart, Victoria Bedziechowski and Jada Griffin, who provided leadership and experience throughout the contest. The group anchored the Chargers on both ends of the floor, working to control tempo, generate quality looks in the half court, and compete on the boards against a deep Lincoln-Way West lineup.
The Chargers stayed competitive early, moving the ball well offensively and matching Lincoln-Way West’s intensity in the opening half. The Warriors pulled away with a third-quarter run, but Stagg continued to battle defensively and show composure in the final period.
Up next, Stagg travels to Oak Forest for an 11:30 a.m. matchup on Saturday, Jan. 24. The Chargers previously defeated Oak Forest 48-22 in their last meeting on Jan. 25.
