Stagg High School’s football team suffered a 51-0 defeat against Waubonsie Valley in a conference matchup held in Aurora.
The game took place on October 10 at Waubonsie Valley High School, where the Chargers faced challenging conditions and a formidable Warriors squad that capitalized on key opportunities.
Stagg opened with strong defensive pressure, forcing Waubonsie Valley to punt on its first drive. However, the Warriors’ balanced attack, led by quarterback Brayden Cronin and running back Colin Ford, found rhythm midway through the first half. This momentum helped them build a 24-0 advantage by halftime. Despite the deficit, the Chargers continued to play with determination, showing improved communication on defense and flashes of offensive creativity. Linebacker Matthew Torres led the effort with several key tackles, while Stagg’s special teams maintained their composure under pressure.
Looking ahead, Stagg will aim to recover when they host Thornwood next Friday at 7 p.m. in their final home game of the regular season. This matchup presents an opportunity for Stagg to demonstrate growth and conclude the year positively.
The last encounter between Stagg and Waubonsie Valley also resulted in a victory for the Warriors, continuing their series momentum.
